Concussion Protocol

On behalf of the NVSL Executive Board

As part of the NVSL's ongoing commitment to providing a safe environment for our member swimmers, coaches, and families, the NVSL has developed requirements for Coaches and Team Reps from member teams to complete awareness training in a few important areas. This email covers the requirements for Concussion Awareness.

The League has a concussion policy for coach education and certification. The NVSL established its policy in 2021 and is following the CDC’s Heads Up Concussion training and certification for coaches. This training takes approximately 45 minutes to complete online and must be completed annually. The online class and certification process can be found here:

CONCUSSION AWARENESS TRAINING
All coaches need to create an account and complete the online Concussion training prior to the first team practice and save their certificate of completion as a pdf to send to Team Reps.

Team Reps - please disseminate the PARENT,ATHLETES AGE 11-13 and ATHLETES AGE 14-18 information sheets to your team members (these do not have to be signed by each family this year). Additional resources for parents from the CDC can be found by CLICKING HERE. We will follow the CDC Return to Play Guidelines as a part of the policy – the steps can be found here:
